In the western part of the city inside the area of the ancient sports facilities, there are the remains of the Thermes (Roman public baths) built in the 2nd century BC.
Next to the entrance were the visitor's dressing rooms. In the northern side of the facilities were the cold baths and an octagonal pool; while in the southern side were halls with boilers for the warm baths. There was also a small domed room used as a sauna. In the 5th century BC this room was used for baptisms and became a part of the three-winged early-Christian basilica which was built on the northern side of the Thermes. The floor of this temple was covered with a mosaic.
The walls of the Thermes were decorated with marble and mosaics, as it is proven by the very well-preserved relics.
Thermes became part of a new facility which included the Gymnasium, a stadium and a ring. The stadium was 190-200 meters long and 40-50 meters wide and it was located on the southern part of the Thermes between Hiera Odos and the wall by the sea. It was one of the largest stadiums in ancient Greece.
